''..and now the end is near..and so we face the final moving..we hope..''

Hello friends, family and all..you will have noticed a lack of entries these past few weeks..and the reason for all this secrecy...well, we had to tell some of you folks out there that we are packing up and heading back to Blighty....(pick yourself up off the floor, Adrian!!)..
Its a long story punctuated by no employment prospects, no money and not enough to live on, the thought of having to work in pizza hut (J was impressed by that one!), a very unhappy biggest boy and a very quick house sale (we accepted an offer on it within 2 weeks).
So we made the decision and are heading back to live in West Yorkshire, near to my Ma and Pa (well, sooo near initially, in fact, that we will be sharing their house!) and are both busy applying for jobs and winding things up at this end. It is disappointing and I am more disappointed than T-he is rather (understatement) angry with his home country and the way Icelandic society in general treats immigrants..its a long time until Iceland can call itself a truly multi-cultural society in his opinion. T say he was never made to feel a 'foreigner' in the Uk and as he always felt more at home there, he is pleased we are going back-J too. We will miss dear friends and family and I'm anxious re jobs..been a while since all that interview malarkey but everyone keeps saying we will be fine. :-)
So, just to put the pressure on-we have to leave our house on 7th August and we are off to meet Grandmum and Pops in Italy on Monday and we are soooooooooooo excited..especially as its been raining non-stop for days here ;-).
Oh, and I forgot to mention thats its Independence Day here today-another bank holiday that falls on the weekend!!
Have fun and keep smilin' everyone..more blogging upon our return from the Lake Como cosmopolitana..

I forgot ... I'm allowed to write here too ...

Apparently we're going through a heatwave here in Iceland (the locals call it the Icecube). The temperature has gone all the way up to 12 degrees celcius and we're all running around in our swimsuits ... maybe ...
Things remain the same here aside from cleaning the house even more for prospective viewers as it is still on the market. Spent last week going backwards and forwards between Reykjavik and Gardur but thankfully J has finished school and E has finished at his childminders for the summer so there will be fewer early mornings and fewer long trips.
We are currently enjoying a long weekend as it is bank holiday on Monday. Then the next bank holiday here is independence day, 17th June ... yippee ... except it falls on a Saturday and in Iceland, that's just tough luck ... next year its on a Sunday but you can have the day off in 2008.
Toti and Joanna actually got an evening out the other day and went to see X-men 3. That Wolverine guy has let himself go a bit (says Toti, cos he's jealous ... Joanna definately disagrees). We spent the next morning cleaning the house for a prospective buyer, as J and E were staying at Nana Kristins and Grandad Freyrs. After the viewing Joanna decided they would relax by going for a romantic stroll to the beach. Joanna calls it walking, Toti calls it ralking (as it is actually much more like running). They met up at the beach half a day later (when Toti finally got there, dehydrated and in need of a shave). Joanna had at that point finished her warm-up. Sunday has been spent at home as the swimming pool was closed. Its always best when the four of us are all here. Love to all, near and far ...
