"...We're not out of the woods yet, officer ..."

I sent my application to the police from Iceland in October 2006 ... yesterday I received a letter:

Dear Mr. Freysson

I refer to your application for appointment in this Force.

Unfortunately, we are unable to proceed with your application as you do not meet the vetting requirements in that you have not resided in the UK for the past 3 years.

I really wish they'd have realised that the address: Framnesvegur, 101 Reykjavik, Iceland meant that I wasn't living in England at the time of applying. It could have saved them alot of time and money and myself alot of time, money and dissappointment.

''...Cinderella..you shall go to the ball...''

...T and I have a night out today..not your average night out for a meal or to the movies but one which involves tuxedos, posh frocks (well, trousers) and sitting at big tables with a lot of people we have never met before! Yes, tonight we are going to the school summer ball and it will be an experience to say the least! T got himself into lots of debt after buying himself a dinner suit ('£209? it wasn't that bad!') and I umm'd and ahh'd about whether to buy a posh frock or not...but as my Mum says you can't wear the same one every year and I'm not sure I will get to wear it in downtown Wakefield ;-). So watch this space for news on our first formal engagement of the year!!
It has been a bit of a social month..Deb stayed last weekend and we watched a film called 'The Painted Veil'..Edward Norton, fantastic script, beautiful scenery and a long-lasting reflective impression..everyone should watch it!
And yesterday EBB and I met Fiona for lunch..although it was nearly tea as Fi got lost and turned up an hour late (I reckon that even beats your record JT!). I have had a good few days with my littlest boy and thats been great..we had such a lot of time together in Iceland and yet I am so busy now that we seem like ships that pass in the night, stopping only for breakfast, bath and bed so our time together has been fab :-).Last weekend I had a good time with J too, so all boys catered for!
Other things? Well,as T said I am loving work..lots of difficulties but ones which I can cope with and ones which only go to prove that finally, after all these years of nursing, I can actually manage other people and look to move up into the higher realms of nursing...modern matron here I come!!!
T is still waiting for his letter from the police..I regularly tell him 'I'm sure the letter will come today!' and then I regularly follow it up with 'oh, well..we'll just have to wait and see..' It will be a relief for all when we actually know what is happening..difficult to plan holidays, trips, lives etc when the west yorkshire police know more than we do!
So, better go now and find my favourite glass slippers, pumpkin and white mice (carriages at 1am..what will I do after midnight?!)...love to one and all from us all..

"...Just a quickie/quicky?..."

Got tired of waiting for Joanna to have time to write an entry so I decided to do it myself. Let’s see … now … Since the last blog our smallest, bestest boy has turned two! Not only that but he has been promoted from Toddler room to BIG Toddler room! This involves walking up those steep steps to the first floor. He’s really enjoying it but he seems so small compared to the others now. Some of his friends are going up as well though so it’s okay!

Jolyons hormones are all over the place which makes all of our lives much more interesting. He’s enjoying his scouts and during the spring bank holiday he’s going on a camping trip. He’ll be away for three whole nights … without any family members … I think his parents are more worried about it than he is, to be fair. In fact, he’s not worried at all!

Joanna has really got into her job and is incredibly busy, which is why I’m writing this one. She’s definitely settling down in the role of manager and is building a good reputation for herself within the trust … a well deserved one as far as her three boys are concerned.

I’m still waiting for that letter from the police … no not the arrest warrant! … the one that says ‘welcome to work, your start date is …’ The only thing left is for them to finish all the security checks so hopefully that should be sorted soon. Mind you, seeing as they have to check my history in two different countries it might take a while. Icelandic red tape and all that … It might not be till the end of the summer that I start so we’ll see.

Anyway, love to you all … we’re looking forward to my parents coming to visit at the end of this month and I do believe they are looking forward to visiting. Right, I’m going now … bye!
